Pack 1049 joins Troop 1699 and marches in Franklin's Annual Labor Day Parade. This event is hosted by Franklin Community Association, which charters both the Pack and the Troop.
Following the parade, stick around for additional games, entertainment, and food at the Round Up and Art Fair. Be sure to say hello to the scouts from Troop 1699 who are volunteering!
We will plan to meet out front of the Franklin Community Church (where we hold pack meetings, except go around to the front entrance), and we will walk to the parade's staging area from there.
We will be leaving the church and heading to the staging area at 11:30am. The parade starts at Noon.
We recommend you arrive plenty early. Parking in the village is limited, and police will begin closing off streets leading up to the parade. Expect to have to park further down Franklin Road and walk the rest of the way to the church.
Parents and others who will spectate: the parade runs from north to south along Franklin Road through the heart of Franklin.
If you miss us at the church, the staging area is on Evelyn Court,
just south of 14 Mile, to the west of Franklin Road.
Please have your Scouts:
In Class A uniform. If they don't have a uniform yet, please wear a Pack 1049 shirt.
Wear proper footwear for walking; this is not a long parade route, but we will be walking; we don't have a trailer like we do in the Memorial Day Parade.
Wear hats and sunscreen; the forecast looks warm and sunny.
Adult leaders will be bringing candy for the Scouts to throw and a wagon to haul it, but supplemental candy would be welcome. We have always run out of candy before the end of the parade in past years, so don't be afraid to bring more.
Please come in uniform and plan to join the Scouts marching in the parade. Help them ration their candy, and keep them hydrated by passing out water bottles. We will also need adults to help carry the banner and flags.
No need to RSVP; please just join us at the church before the parade.
