This event takes place at the December Pack Meeting.
Boat kits are distributed at the November Pack meeting. If you cannot attend the November Pack meeting, please contact a Pack leader and we will find a way to get your Scout a kit.
Scouts should assemble, sand, and paint/decorate their boats during the weeks between the November and December Pack meetings.
Adults and older scouts who can show up early, please come at 5:15 pm to help us set up! We need to move tables, inflate gutters, and carry pales of water from the kitchen.
Check-in starts at 6:00 pm and will end at 6:15 pm sharp. Your Scout should bring his/her boat to the adult volunteer at the check-in table, and they will get it entered into the right bracket for your Scout's den.
We need an adult to volunteer in this position, measuring boats to make sure they are the right size and have their mast properly attached. This adult also needs to tally how many boats we have in each den.
The race begins at 6:15 pm. Each den will be given a bracket and assigned a gutter. The Den Leader will tell Scouts when they are up to race.
We need a parent in the den to volunteer as the line judge at the far end of the gutter to determine winners.
After all dens have completed their brackets, the 1st and 2nd place winners from each den will advance to the overall Pack bracket.
At the end of the overall Pack bracket, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be announced.
There will be two trophies awarded for aesthetics.
