Pack 1049 marches (or floats) in the annual Beverly Hills Memorial Day Parade. The parade begins at Groves High School and ends at Beverly Park. The pack gathers early to decorate a trailer/float and then throws out candy along the parade route.
Following the parade, stick around for additional games, entertainment, and food at the carnival in Beverly Park.
The parade's staging area is the north parking lot (by the auditorium and tennis courts) of Groves High School. We will meet there at 10:00 am to begin decorating the float. You will have to search for us amidst the other groups in the parade. You will not be allowed to park here, but the parking lot on the west side of Groves will be open.
The parade kicks off at 11:00 am. The route goes north on Evergreen and turns east on Beverly. The parade ends at the entrance to Beverly Park where the carnival will be going on. The parade will last approximately 1 hour and the route is roughly one mile.
You will need to pick up your scout at the end of the parade (or arrange for someone to drive them back to Groves). The Beverly Park parking lot will be closed, but Beverly Elementary's parking lot next door will be open.

We will be creating a "camping" themed float/trailer this year. Decorating supplies will be provided. To align with the camping theme, scouts should plan to bring a small camping chair to sit on the float/trailer. We will be creating a "campfire" in the middle to complete the scene.
We will also mount our US and pack flags to the trailer.
Please have your scouts:
In class A uniform. If they don't have a uniform yet, please wear a Pack 1049 shirt.
Wear hats and sunscreen; the forecast looks warm and sunny.
Please bring:
A camp chair for your scout to sit on. No scout will be allowed to stand while the trailer is moving.
A bottle of water. Stay hydrated!
Adult leaders will be bringing candy for the scouts to throw and a wagon to haul it, but supplemental candy would be welcome. Note: avoid chocolate because it can melt.
Please come in uniform and plan to march alongside the float in the parade. Help them ration their candy and remind them to stay hydrated. We will also need adults to help carry the pack's banner in front of the float.
Please express your interest in participating by responding to the Facebook event on the Pack 1049 page.
